No matter your skin type, your time frame, or your budget, we have a facial that can give you the glowing skin you crave.
What Is a Facial Massage?
From as early as the 1500s, women have been experimenting with products and processes to achieve more radiant skin.
In fact, early facial kits often consisted of ingredients that could be quite harmful to a person's skin and overall health since there was little known about what certain chemicals and products could do to the outer layer of a person's face.
Nor was it well understood what could happen when those various ingredients were absorbed through the face's outer layer and entered into a person's bloodstream.
Today, facials are much more advanced, and hours of research go into each product manufactured and designed to be used on our skin.
That said, you should still be vigilant in making sure that the spa or cosmetic office you choose for a facial has a high reputation and is appropriately licensed to provide the services they are offering.
And the more sophisticated the facial is, the more important it will be for you to make sure the person who is administering it knows exactly what ingredients are in the products and has done the necessary research to make sure it is the right facial for your skin type.
Here at Penelope And The Beauty Bar, we've moved way past the 1500s, while also preserving the same concept that was important to women then, and still is today.
We offer state-of-the-art facial kits that have been deeply researched before being used in our spa. We've found the most effective products on the market today to achieve the results you may be looking for. And... we know each of our client's needs is different and we are excited to customize each facial for each individual person's skin and other needs.
And, maybe most importantly of all, we want your experience to be relaxing and joyful, while also giving you the results you are looking for.
At Penelope And The Beauty Bar, we offer a variety of some of the most advanced types of facials that are on the market today, and can help you decide which one is the best for you.

If you are looking for the best facial for glowing skin, here are some of our favorite options:
- hydrating facials
- hyaluronic acid facials
- microdermabrasion facials
- anti-aging facials
- sensitive skin facials
Let's look at each of these more closely and find out which of Penelope and the Beauty Bars facials is going to work best for the glowing skin results you desire.
Best Facial for Dull Skin
One of the most frequent complaints we hear from clients is that their skin has lost its glow or brightness and seems to look dull.
For people who live in climates that tend to be exceptionally dry and where humidity is low, this especially is common.
As we age, our skin also loses some of its elasticity, which not only leads to lines and wrinkles, but can also cause some of the vitality and brightness of our skin to fade.
Remember when you were a child and you'd come inside after a period of time outdoors, running and playing? It's that youthful glow that so many of us miss as we grow up.
Luckily, there are certain facials that can help you get that glowing complexion back.
One of the most effective treatments for dull skin is to apply a hydrating facial.
A hydrafacial uses special ingredients that are designed to plump skin and penetrate past the outer layer to provide moisture to the layers underneath.
Some aesthetic treatments will use serums to achieve this goal, while others will get to the underlying skin cells with masques and various massaging cream.
Regardless of how your aesthetician employs these products, the final goal is to leave the skin with a radiant glow that it didn't have before the treatment.
When you are searching for a facial that will hydrate and nourish not just the top layer of your skin, look for ones that mention hyaluronic acid as one of the main ingredients within the product that is going to be used.
Hyaluronic acid is one of the most effective treatments for dry and dull skin, since it won't just sit on the top layer, but will penetrate deeper to bring nourishment and moisture from the inside of your skin up to the outer layers.
One of our favorite hydrating facials at Penelope And The Beauty Bar is the Collagen Rejuvenating Facial.
This facial is specifically designed for skin that has lost some of its moisture and needs some brightness restored.
Not only will it give you glowing skin, but it will also lift and smooth to give you more shine.
The Collagen Rejuvenating Facial starts at $349 and will last for a luxurious 75 minutes, after which you will look and feel like that young girl again!
Best Facial for Acne Prone Skin
Whether you are a teenager just beginning to battle blemishes, or you are older and still wrestling with blemished skin, there are plenty of treatments that can put acne behind you once and for all.
Acne is caused by a number of things.
Most of us experience some sort of acne in our youth.
Because of hormone changes and imbalances, acne can often be something that's practically unavoidable for many of us as we are going through drastic hormonal changes during our teenage years.
For others of us, acne-prone skin will continue to haunt us well into our adult years.
Whether it's due to genetics or environmental factors, some skin is more prone to breakouts and blemishes than others.
But, thanks to modern medicine, cosmetics, and technology, you don't have to continue to battle blemished skin anymore.
There are plenty of treatment options, from over-the-counter products to prescription-based medicines that can help you attain clearer skin than ever before.
That said, many of us don't want to have to take a pill that may have other adverse effects on our bodies.
And many of the over-the-counter products are expensive, unpredictable and can cause other issues, such as leaving us with dry skin after application.
More and more of our clients are turning to facials as a way to rid their skin of acne and blemishes. In fact, most skin types can benefit from at least one acne-specific regimen at some point in their adulthood, since most of us still have the occasional blemish, even if it isn't an ongoing problem.
The best facials for treating acne are ones that contain serums specifically for excess dirt removal and deep cleansing agents.
One of our favorites is the Sebum Rebalancing Facial.

Your aesthetician will begin by discussing with you any skin concerns while also examining the state of your skin currently.
She will then begin to remove dead skin cells which will target any current blemishes, then will work toward getting any deeper, congested skin to release excess oil and dirt that may be trapped in deeper layers of your epidermis.
The Sebum Rebalancing Facial lasts for about 50 minutes and will not only detoxify your face but will also work to minimize past acne scars and tighten pores.
You also have the option of adding glycolic acid, which will aid in any damage or scarring that is a result of previous acne breakouts.
For a cost of around $300, the Sebum Rebalancing Facial is our top choice for an instant glow for skin that begs to be blemish-free.
Best Facial for Wrinkles and Fine Lines
While some of us may be fortunate enough to not have to battle with blemished skin, there are few of us lucky enough to not deal with fine lines and wrinkles.
It is a part of the aging process that is hard to avoid.
Throughout our lives, skin grows and changes just like the rest of our body. But various factors, such as sun exposure, genetics, and even our emotions will cause our skin to wrinkle and sag as we age.
Yes, they may be called laugh lines. But most of us don't find them very funny.
We continue to develop and design new ways in the world of cosmetology and aesthetics to find ways to minimize and even erase signs of aging.
Through more advanced procedures and by understanding the way our skin develops and changes, we can offer more sophisticated products and professional facials that can target areas where environmental factors and aging have taken away some of our youthful glow.
Few skin types are able to avoid the effects that sun damage and aging have on our skin. But almost all skin types can benefit from a facial that will help reverse some of the damage caused.
An excellent facial that specifically targets sun damage is the Micro Puncture Lab Treatment.
______________________________
Not only will this procedure leave you with clearer and more radiant skin, but it will also plump skin in a way that diminishes the lines that we associate with aging.
Your aesthetician will take you into the treatment room and start by applying products to help with collagen production. The skin is then gently stimulated with a gentle but firm micro-perforating technique designed to increase elasticity and collagen growth, the secret to healthier and more youthful skin.
After the procedure, your face will be treated to a cocktail of amino acids and serums like Vitamin C which will continue to enhance collagen production and stimulate blood flow long after you leave.
You will also have a layer of sun protection applied that will help keep your now flawless skin looking smooth and radiant.
The Micro Puncture Lab Treatment may be the perfect treatment for your skin concerns, especially if anti-aging is your main focus. And at a price of less than $400, you will be surprised you haven't considered this facial before.
Best Facial for Premature Aging
Perhaps the only thing worse than aging is the look of premature aging, right?
Premature aging happens for a variety of reasons, some that we can control and others that may happen, regardless of the type of care we give to our skin.
For many of us, premature aging happens due to overexposure to the sun's damaging rays and is often occurring well before we even realize it.
In fact, experts say that the majority of our skin damage actually takes place in our teen years, long before we are aware of or concerned with what our skin is going to look like in the future.
As we've learned more about sun exposure and the damage it eventually causes, we've become more cognizant of using the appropriate sun protection as a part of our daily skincare routine.
But for those times before we knew better, we need to find ways to reverse the effects the sun has already caused on our skin.
One of the most effective facials that we offer at Penelope And The Beauty Bar is the Illuminating Caviar facial treatment.

Illuminating Caviar facial treatment.
Through a specially designed masque called the Biologique Recherche Caviar Regenerating Masque, your skin will immediately benefit from the moisturizing and stimulating ingredients included.
This treatment will take about 75 minutes and give you the appearance that the sun and other environmental factors have taken away and caused your skin to look older than it needs to.
Not only will this masque target fine lines and sunspots, but it will tone areas where early sagging may be occurring and give you back some of the youthful skin you deserve.
Looking older than you are isn't necessary anymore. A treatment such as the Biologique Recherche Caviar Regenerating Masque will not only remove dead skin cells but will also help tone facial muscles which will also help alleviate signs of premature aging that harmful UV rays have left on our skin.
The Biologique Recherche Caviar Regenerating Masque costs $379 and after only one treatment, many of our clients say they can see a significant improvement in their skin tone and feel an instant glow when they leave the room.
Best Facial for Sensitive Skin
In today's world of cosmetology and aesthetics, we seem to have endless options for skin care for all types of skin and for even the most specific skin concerns that come to us.
But, for those individuals who have sensitive skin, the options often seem more limited, and finding the right products and procedures can at times feel frustrating.
Many of our clients who have sensitive skin come to us with concerns about past procedures and products that have done more harm than good to their skin in the past.
Because so many aesthetic formulas are not created for skin that may be prone to irritation, it can be very hard and disheartening for those clients who are looking for glowing skin but can't seem to find something that doesn't damage it instead.
People who live with skin that irritates easily are going to have to be extra aware of what types of products they use and what sorts of treatments they try when they are seeking out aesthetic procedures.
Not all professional facials are going to be best for people with ultra-sensitive or fair skin.
For example, even though microdermabrasion is an incredibly effective procedure for helping clients get rid of lines, dark spots, and other skin imperfections, it can wreak serious havoc on certain people's skin.
Other treatments, like certain chemical peels, can also be too abrasive for certain skin types and should be carefully considered before being used on those with fair or easily damaged skin. Store-purchased facial kits should also be read carefully for ingredients that could cause irritation for these individuals as well.
Luckily, there are certain facials that are designed with the sensitive-types in mind.
A favorite amongst many clients is the Toleskin Facial for Ultra-Sensitive skin.
This treatment is going to be perfect for someone who wants all the benefits of glowing skin but can't handle some of the harsher treatments that other skin types can.
With soothing and calming ingredients, the Toleskin facial will restore and strengthen your skin's barrier while also improving the skin's tolerance.
Based on an anti-redness ingredient like Kakadu Plum Extract, this is a great option if your skin is prone to redness, itching, or heat.
It's also ideal for those clients that may have some health concerns or have recently experienced a long sickness or a surgery that has left their immune system or overall health a bit compromised.
At just under an hour and for a price of $315, the Toleskin facial will leave even the most sensitive and highly irritated skin feeling stronger, smoother, and healthier.
And, the benefits will continue after you leave, keeping your skin protected while you go about your day.
What Are Some of the Best Facial Tips for New Clients?
Now that you've got a better idea of what's going to be the best facial for glowing skin based on your personal needs, there are some tips and tricks you should know about before you come in for that first session.
Know Thyself...Know Thy Spa
You've done your homework on what type of facial is going to be best for you and your skin type...but now you need to do the homework on the spa that is going to best suit your needs.
Not all spas are created equal...in fact, far from it. Many hire inexperienced staff who are either just out of training, or may not even have the appropriate training or certificates to render the services they are administering.
At Penelope And The Beauty Bar, we take great pride in the personnel that we have found, from our friendly front desk staff to our licensed and skilled aestheticians.
We know that when you come to Penelope and the Beauty Bar you are trusting us not just to make you look better, but to feel better too. We will always take measures to ensure your health along with your overall experience.
Professional facials should not be given by just anyone. Make sure your provider knows what they're doing and has the licenses and certificates to prove it.
Know Thy Aesthetician Too!
Another great tip before your facial is to try to show up a few minutes early so that you can have time to speak with your aesthetician in advance of your facial.
A good aesthetician will always make time for you before they begin any procedure. They'll want to know about your past facial experiences, if you have ever had an adverse reaction to a product, and if you have any allergies.
They'll also want to know about your past medical history and if you are currently on any medications that could cause a reaction to any of the procedures you are going to have done.
Though you may have a clear idea of what is best for your skin, your aesthetician will also have some recommendations and give you guidance on what type of condition your skin is in.
Just like anyone who is involved in your health and beauty regimen, it's always going to be a good idea to take a few minutes before your facial and get to know the person who is going to be responsible for your soon-to-be glowing skin.
Glowing Skin Requires Naked Skin
Before you go to the spa for your first treatment, make sure your face is as free from products as possible.
Sometimes it's not feasible to show up without makeup, suntan lotion, or other skin care products on, especially if you're coming straight from work, or are on vacation and have been outside all day.
Of course, we can clean your face before your procedure starts, but it's if you've done it ahead of time.
In fact, many professional beauty consultants suggest not wearing makeup or applying any products for a day or two before a facial, especially if you are having a more invasive procedure done, like microdermabrasion or chemical peel.
We will make sure to apply the appropriate creams or serums afterward to protect your skin when you leave us.
Your Best Facial Starts From Within
Do the best you can to be well-hydrated on the day of your treatment.
The more hydrated you are beforehand, the better hydrafacial before and after results you are going to be able to expect.
Of course, drinking a gallon of water an hour before your facial may not be ideal (especially if you don't want to have to get up mid-facial!) but planning ahead will be ideal.
It is recommended that we drink around 10 cups of water each day for maximum hydration. And though this may not always be possible, coming as close to that amount as possible is not only going to be good for your skin the day of your procedure, but it's going to be great for your skin in between each facial as well.
Speaking of Each Facial...
Though some may think of a facial as a luxury, many aestheticians and even dermatologists suggest they should be a part of our regular beauty routine and not just something we do on special occasions.
Our skin is a living, breathing organism that needs proper care and attention to be at its best.
Just like other parts of our body, we should think about facial treatments as a preventative measure for not just reversing the aging process, but also as a way to prevent some of the aging process from happening at all.
A regular facial will remove dead skin, even out your skin tone, remove dead cells and help with blood circulation.
Regular facials can have lasting effects and will help your skin to age more gracefully. Facial treatments are also a great way for a professional to be able to assess your skin often and notice any important changes that may need attention.
Most experts recommend getting no more than two facial treatments a month.
More often than that can cause dry skin, since the outer layer may become too dependent on outside moisture and stop producing its own.
It can also cause breakouts, even in people who don't typically struggle with acne.
If you can't find the time or financial resources to invest in a couple of face treatments every month, consider at least having one every six weeks.
Don't Try This a Home
Though facial kits have become increasingly popular at drugstores and in makeup aisles everywhere, it's still best to go to the professionals when you want to get the best possible results for your skin.
Sure, some of those facial kits are going to cost less than what professional facials do, but you need to consider what you're actually getting for your money when you buy them.
Many of the store-bought facial kits have ingredients in them that not only won't give you the results you want, but some of those ingredients are potentially harmful to your face, especially for those who have acne or highly sensitive spots on their skin.
And how many of us have a half-used bottle of a product that claimed to be a "miracle" and is now simply taking up space on our bathroom shelf?
Facial kits are not capable of producing the types of results a quality facial can. There is also the mental and physical benefit that professional facials can provide you that a do-it-yourself simply can't.
Having a facial massage at least every six weeks will restore blood flow, aid in relaxation, boost collagen production, and can even help with head and neck pain.
Not to mention, the pampering that is a part of an excellent facial is going to make you feel even more beautiful than you already are.
